Oasis Academy Hadley is an Academy in Enfield, England run by Oasis Community Learning. It is the second academy in Enfield and has close links with Oasis Academy Enfield.[1] It opened on 7 September 2009. It has opened in the existing buildings of Albany School and the Primary Phase opened its reception class in September 2010, but will move to a new purpose-built site on South Street, Ponders End in September 2012.[2]

The Name of the Academy

Oasis Academy Hadley is named after mathematician John Hadley. This name was chosen because he lived in Enfield and the Academy specialises in Mathematics.[3]

Albany School

Not to be confused with Albany School, New Zealand.

Oasis Academy Hadley replaced Albany School which opened in 1939, lasting 70 years. The School opened as separate boys' and girls' schools on the same site. It was opened as a coeducational secondary modern school in 1939, and in 1974 was converted to a comprehensive school.[4] In it 2008 became a specialist Business and Enteprise college.

In July 2009 the school celebrated its 70th birthday and, later that month, closed.
